Spiders are often attracted to structures by outdoor lighting. The lighting draws in insects. The spiders quickly find it is easier to get a meal by waiting by the lights. Therefore, to minimize such problems:
Keep lights on to a minimum or use yellow bulbs which attract fewer insects and place the lighting away from the building.
